JOB SUMMARY: 

The Project Manager in coordination with the Beyond Shelter Steering Committee will be key in promoting a systemic change in the Community, by working with case managers and other partners to help homeless families transition from homelessness to permanent independent living.  This position will be instrumental in telling the story of homeless families, capturing success stories, as well as overall management and development of the Beyond Shelter Project. Examples of critical projects this position would be leading: Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) reporting, generating system reports for partners and the community, adding additional partners to the mobile case management pool, increasing the faith-based community connection and donations, researching best practices for further development, coordinating the efforts of existing agencies in housing families quickly, and strengthening the connection with AK 2-1-1.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Personal:  Demonstrated dependability, maturity, and initiative and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.  Excellent interpersonal skills.  Must be able to maintain project/guest/agency confidentiality. Ability to accept supervision and work with community social service workers, partners and other agencies cooperatively.  Flexibility to deal effectively with a variety of people, situations, problems and challenges.  Ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Experience/Education:  Minimum of two years experience with the homeless population as a social service provider and knowledge of Anchorage area social services agencies is helpful.  Must have the ability to be a leader in managing projects, have planning and process improvement experience, an understanding of the service provider’s missions and organizational processes and have a high degree of creativity.  An Associates degree or Bachelors degree in social work, sociology, psychology, counseling or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience. 

Experience/Skills:  Must be computer literate in Word, Excel and have some IT knowledge.  Ability to gather information/data accurately and generate reports.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Public relations, marketing, research and business development skills necessary.  Having worked with the faith-based, housing and mental health communities a plus.

 

Other Requirements:  Must have valid AK driver's license.

 

Physical Requirements:   Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

 

Training Requirements:  Agency and department orientations.  Additional training as appropriate.

 

 

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Develop and maintain the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) reporting system as it pertains to the Beyond Shelter Project capturing accurate data of individuals placed in temporary to permanent housing.  Implementing real-time as well as monthly, quarterly and annual reports to provide accurate data for all partnerships and funding sources.
  2. Responsible for planning and effectively coordinating outreach projects in the community and building new community partnerships especially those in the faith-based community.  Generating donations from these groups to utilize the grant money that is available for matching donations.
  3. Assist in overall development of the emerging system. Working closely with the current case managers and other staff as well as conducting business development by adding more partners to the mobile case management pool.
  4. Research successful national homeless projects to determine best practices and develop innovative solutions to enhance the homeless system in the Anchorage community.
  5. Promote the project throughout the community through oral and written communications, marketing, education and awareness.
  6. Research and coordinate the efforts of existing agencies in housing families within the community.  Organize discussion of additional action plans and follow through to implementation.
  7. Other duties as assigned by Beyond Shelter and/or NeighborWorks® Anchorage Executive Director.
